JUST YOU AND I

Today Liz and I celebrate our 14Th wedding anniversary. September 7Th, 1996 was a beautiful day surrounded by friends and family as we joined together not just for now but for all eternity as husband and wife. As equal partners we committed to be together on this road through life. Sometimes we have bumps and bruises, good and bad, happy times and sad no matter what we keep moving forward together as one. Sometimes one carries the other but most often we carry each other. Sometimes we run and sometimes we walk. We support each other and help each other as a true best friend would do. As someone recently reminded me, end the end it is Liz and I.

Happy Anniversary!

CAMP ROCK 2

Tonight we had a premiere party for "Camp Rock 2". Our daughter has been waiting for months for this to be on TV! We had fun and invited some of our kids friends to join in the fun. Our son was a real trooper and put up with a room full of girls all night! Dad was smart. He watched the new "Star Trek" movie in the other room!
The Love Sac is always a hit with kids!
Getting rowdy!
The TV's upside down!
Mom worn out and ready for bed!

CALIFORNIA

Dave had a chance to visit California recently. Don with DJ Brothers offered to fly Dave out to California in exchange for being the DJ for one of his nine weddings one Saturday! Don, Selena and Donnie picked Dave up (after he missed his flight in Phoenix Doh!) and took him to In-N-Out!
Big 5 Sporting Goods! Best prices on cool shoes and other fun stuff! We need Big 5 in Texas!
Dave stayed at Uncle Steve and Aunt Lynda's (Dave's dads little sister) house but never got a picture of the two of them dressed! Here is a picture of Uncle Rich (Dave's dads older brother) and Aunt Bev.
A great blessing of the trip was visiting Dave's mom who had had surgery and then a lot of problems with infections. She is looking better then expected but still cannot eat.
Dave and Lary who have known each other for about 28 years. Where does the time go? Dave had lunch with Lary at Lazy Dog Cafe.
Dave with Wayne and Shelley. When Dave and Wayne get together crazy and naughty stuff is bound to happen! Dave met up with then at Islands and then to See's Candy and Trader Joe's!
The Creel family. So darn cute except for Wayne!
DJ Brother's van
Dave hadn't seen Ric since 1993 but recently found him on Facebook.

Ric is running for Brea City Council and is showing off his campaign handshake!
Dave stopped by the house that Liz grew up in and it is for sale....again!
For the 6 years that Dave and Liz worked for DJ Brother's they loved working with Jim who is one of the photographers. It was very cool to work with Jim one more time.
Can Dave still DJ? Yup!
Mike and Laurel's new pool. They had their first famous deep dish pizza party the night that Dave DJ the wedding. So he stopped by around midnight. This was the first time that they had the party in 4 years!
Pizza!
Mike and Laurel

Dave and Mike. Dave was Mike's best man at his wedding and they also started up "Datenite" a long time ago....
Time to leave California and go home!
As much fun as Dave had in California it was not as much with his wife and kids in Texas! The kids did like their top airplane and stuffed dolphin.

Two years ago today I met my kids. After talking to them on the phone the night before, Dave & I went to work anticipating our first meeting. So as not to waste time, we decided to go straight from work and meet up at their foster home. We both pulled up about the same time and as I was parking, I called their foster mom and told her we were here. They walked outside as we walked up. I will never forget seeing them standing there and thinking “those are my kids”. And so began our journey into parenthood. After dinner at Double Dave’s Pizza, we went to the park and played and took tons of pictures. We didn’t want to leave but we knew they needed time to process it all and so did we. They would come to our house the next night and then spend 4th of July weekend with us before going back to their foster home to gather their belongings and say goodbye. On July 9th they moved in and have been here ever since. I’ve tried to imagine what it would be like to move in with someone you’ve only known 9 days. I knew Dave 9 months before we married and moved in together and I choose him. It is a strange experience, but a wonderful one! I can’t even explain how much I love my kids. They are the world to me. I hope that when they look back on their lives they will be grateful for the life they had. I hope they will understand how much we love them. I hope they will find room in their hearts for all their parents – the ones who gave them life, for the ones who cared for them when they needed a safe place to live and for the ones who freely signed our lives away and said we’d take you for eternity!
