DAVE'S QUICK TRIP TO CALIFORNIA

Last week I had a chance to fly out to California on Friday. Flying out for a funeral is not the best of times but I was glad that I was able to support the Carlton family at the passing of Michelle Carlton. My buddy Wayne picked me up from John Wayne Airport and we went to In-n-Out burger! I later went to DJ Brothers where I use to work and my buddy Jim jumped out of his chair with a look on his face that said "what are you doing here"! That night Mom and Greg took me to El Torito and I must admit I was pretty tired after that!

Saturday I devoted my day to Michelle's funeral and afterwards I spent time at the Carlton's home. Later I stopped by the Ridenour's who are old friends of the family. Larry and Judy Ridenour knew my parents before I was even thought of! It  was interesting driving through Long Beach and seeing places that I remember. So many memories came flooding back! I wish that I had another week to visit more sites and people. I then met up with Mom and Greg at Mar bellamy's 75th birthday party. What a fun time to see people who taught me while I was growing up in the Long Beach 11th ward! Sunday brought church at the Fountain valley 1st Ward with Mom and Greg and a wonderful dinner before flying back to Texas! I am so greatful to Mom and Greg for allowing me to stay at there home! Greg made me breakfest everyday and let me borrow his truck! I wish that I had time to see Avatar with him but there is never enough time!

MICHELLE CARLTON FUNERAL

With the help of the Garvin family for donating airline miles I was able to fly to California for Michelle Carlton's funeral. Michelle fight a long and tough battle with cancer. She left behind 3 wonderful kids and a loving husband, Lary. I have known Lary since 1982 and we have been through a lot together and I am so thankful that I was able to support him during this time.

Lary told me that he always wanted to remember Michelle on thier wedding day which I had the honor of being in the wedding line on that wonderful day.

Michelle's children and family set butterflies free.

It was great to see see my old friend Dan Camacho.

Dan and lary. Has it really been 28 years?

We know that Michelle lives on and that we will see her again. Please keep the Carlton family in your prayers.

IN-N-OUT!

One of the cool things about my California trip was eating at In-n-Out burger. I haven't been in over 3 years and I have been craving it! It does not help that my friends and family love to call me when they are in the drive through! I went on Friday right after I got off the plane and again on Saturday after the funeral! I always get the same thing, cheese burger animal style, french fries animal style and a diet coke! I talked to one of the management and told them that I came from Dallas, TX! He said that to combat the copycats in Texas they are opening a location in Houston, TX in 2011! I also hear that they are opening a location in Frisco, TX so we will see!

T-SHIRT TIME!

What could be better then a In-n-Out t-shirt? The kids will now be "super cool" here in Texas!
